Who can take part
- You have rectal adenocarcinoma that has grown into or through the rectal wall and may have spread to nearby lymph nodes (stage T3-4/N+).
- Your tumor is within 12 cm of the anal opening, and you have not had chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy before.
- You are between 18 and 75 years old, able to perform daily activities (Karnofsky score 70 or higher), and have adequate organ function.
- You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding, have active autoimmune disease, or certain heart conditions.
- You must have no allergies to the study drugs and no history of other cancers in the last 5 years (except cured skin or cervical cancer).
