Who can take part

  • Your baby was born at 28 weeks of pregnancy or earlier.
  • Your baby is less than 3 days old (72 hours).
  • Your baby was born at the study hospital (not transferred from another hospital).
  • You or another legal guardian is available to provide kangaroo care (skin-to-skin contact).
  • Your baby has not had major surgery recently, does not have a belly wall defect, and does not need to be kept still.
