Who can take part

  • You must have cancer that has spread to your spine (spinal metastases) and it is causing pain.
  • You should have had an MRI to confirm the tumor location and see if it extends outside the spine.
  • You must be able to get around (even if you need some help) – that means an ECOG score of 0, 1, or 2.
  • You cannot have had radiation to that exact spot on your spine before.
  • Your spine must be stable – not at risk of collapsing – as checked by a special score.
  • You must be willing to fill out a daily pain diary and keep track of the medicines you take for pain.
