  • You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) surgery under general anesthesia
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or higher
  • Your surgery is expected to last between 1 and 2.5 hours
  • Your surgery is not on your head or neck, and you will not be lying on your stomach
