Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 50 years old.
  • You are a nonsmoker.
  • You fall into one of these groups: normal weight (BMI 18.5-24.9) with normal blood pressure, or obese (BMI 30 or higher) with either normal blood pressure or mild high blood pressure.
  • You are not taking any heart or blood pressure medications regularly (for the normal-weight group) or can skip your blood pressure pills on study mornings (for the high-blood-pressure group).
  • You do not have diabetes, a pacemaker, heart disease, kidney problems, or certain other medical conditions.
