Who can take part

  • Born before 30 weeks of pregnancy (before 30 weeks' gestation).
  • Needed breathing help at birth, such as a ventilator, CPAP, or extra oxygen.
  • No major birth defects of the lungs or airways.
  • Able to provide at least 3 respiratory samples for testing.
  • Stayed in the newborn intensive care unit until at least 36 weeks' adjusted age.
