Who can take part

  • You must have PSVD (a rare liver blood vessel disorder) or cirrhosis (liver scarring), confirmed by biopsy or other tests.
  • You need to have signs of high blood pressure in the liver veins, like enlarged veins in the belly or food pipe, or a past variceal bleed.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You cannot have other causes of high liver vein pressure, such as certain rare diseases or past bone marrow transplant.
  • You cannot have liver tumors, a TIPS device (a shunt inside the liver), or have had liver or spleen surgery.
