Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 60 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or higher.
  • You are scheduled for elective (planned) surgery that requires general anesthesia and a breathing tube.
  • Your physical health is classified as ASA II or III (moderate to serious, but stable, condition).
  • You do not have neuromuscular disease or facial abnormalities.
  • You have not been previously diagnosed with sleep apnea (OSA) by a sleep study.
