- You are scheduled for heart or blood vessel surgery
- You are 18 years or older
- Your health status is rated ASA I, II, III, or IV (a standard classification of physical health)
- You do not have a known difficult airway history
- You do not have head, neck, or upper airway problems
- You are not at high risk for aspiration (inhaling stomach contents)
