- You must be 18 or older
- Your physical health must be rated as ASA I, II, or III by your anesthesiologist
- You are scheduled for laparoscopic (keyhole) stomach removal surgery under general anesthesia
- You cannot have used strong painkillers (opioids) for more than 3 months or be dependent on them
- You must not have severe kidney or liver disease, and no allergy to numbing medications
