Comparing two drugs for myelofibrosis with low blood counts

This trial tests two oral medications, momelotinib and ruxolitinib, to see which works better for people with newly diagnosed myelofibrosis who also have low blood cell counts. You may be able to join if your spleen is enlarged and you haven't had prior treatment with certain drugs.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with primary myelofibrosis, or myelofibrosis that started after polycythemia vera or essential thrombocythemia, confirmed by a bone marrow biopsy within the last 4 years.
  • Your spleen is at least 450 cm³ in size (about the size of a large grapefruit) as measured by MRI or CT scan.
  • You have not had any prior treatment for myelofibrosis with JAK inhibitors (such as ruxolitinib or fedratinib) or ACVR1 inhibitors.
  • You are not eligible for or have not had a stem cell transplant for myelofibrosis.
  • You must be able to take pills by mouth and have adequate kidney function (creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or more).
  • You must not have had your spleen removed or received radiation to the spleen in the past 90 days.
