Who can take part

  • You are between 35 and 65 years old.
  • You are a current master's athlete (train at least 3 times a week for competition), a former competitive athlete (national level or higher, but not active for 5+ years), or a nonathlete (never competed at that level and not active in sports for 5+ years).
  • You are not pregnant, planning pregnancy, or taking heart rate lowering medications.
  • You do not have fibromyalgia, chronic regional pain syndrome, Raynaud's, cold urticaria, or circulation problems.
  • You have not had a heart attack or pulmonary embolism in the past year, and have no other conditions that make exercise unsafe.
  • You are able to safely do exercise testing.
