Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa (confirmed by an eye test called an electroretinogram)
  • You have a genetic mutation in a gene that affects the retinoid cycle (like RPE65, RDH12, or LRAT) — but not the ABCA4 gene
  • You are not currently a smoker
  • You are not taking vitamin A or beta-carotene supplements
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant without contraception
