Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are expected to need a breathing machine for at least 2 more days
  • You are currently on a fully controlled ventilation mode (the machine does most of the breathing for you)
  • You are awake enough to follow commands and are not on paralysis medications
  • Your lung function test (oxygen level) shows P/F ratio of at least 150
