Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are having planned laparoscopic or robotic-assisted surgery (not emergency surgery)
  • Your surgery is expected to last less than 5 hours
  • You don't have a nerve injury, stroke, carpal tunnel, or similar wrist/hand condition
  • You don't have a muscle disease like myasthenia gravis
  • Your kidneys are working well (your doctor can confirm this with a blood test)
