Who can take part
- Age 18–80 years old
- Severe vision loss in both eyes (best corrected vision less than 0.05) that limits daily activities
- High risk of corneal transplant failure or unable to safely have corneal transplant surgery
- Healthy retina and optic nerve with potential to see if cornea is fixed
- Normal or stable eye pressure (below 21 mmHg), controlled with medication if needed
- No active eye infection and stable enough overall health for surgery
