Who can take part

  • Age 18–80 years old
  • Severe vision loss in both eyes (best corrected vision less than 0.05) that limits daily activities
  • High risk of corneal transplant failure or unable to safely have corneal transplant surgery
  • Healthy retina and optic nerve with potential to see if cornea is fixed
  • Normal or stable eye pressure (below 21 mmHg), controlled with medication if needed
  • No active eye infection and stable enough overall health for surgery
