Who can take part
- Age 18–80 years old
- Diagnosis of cancer spread to the spine causing muscle weakness or paralysis
- Scheduled for spinal surgery to decompress (relieve pressure) and/or stabilize the spine
- Medically healthy enough to safely have surgery
- Able to understand the study and sign a consent form
- Willing and able to attend follow-up visits for nerve and movement testing
