Who can take part
- You are 19 years old or older
- You are having major abdominal surgery (stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, or related organs) under general anesthesia
- Your surgery and anesthesia will last at least 3 hours
- You can breathe on your own immediately after surgery without a breathing tube
- You do not need a breathing machine after surgery and can recover in a regular hospital bed or ICU
