  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your BMI (body mass index) is 40 or higher, and you weigh less than 440 pounds
  • You are scheduled for weight-loss surgery (Sleeve Gastrectomy or Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass)
  • You have not had previous weight-loss surgery or major abdominal surgery
  • You can commit to study visits and follow-up appointments
  • Your medical and mental health conditions are well-controlled with treatment
