Who can take part
- Child is between 5 and 18 years old
- Has sickle cell disease and is currently in a stable phase (no severe pain episodes requiring hospital visits in the last 28 days)
- Not currently taking antibiotics (except penicillin for prevention)
- Not currently taking probiotic or prebiotic supplements
- Not currently taking acid reflux medications (PPIs)
- No known allergy to flaxseed
