Who can take part
- You must be 4 to 21 years old and have any type of sickle cell disease.
- You must be in the hospital with a sickle cell pain crisis that requires strong pain medicine (opioids) through an IV.
- Your pain should have started within the last 3 days, not longer.
- You must be able to start the study drug within 12 hours of your first dose of opioid pain medicine in the emergency room.
- You cannot have had more than 9 hospital stays for pain in the past year.
