Who can take part
- You have sickle cell disease (any type), and you are between 6 and 21 years old.
- You are currently having a painful crisis (vaso-occlusive crisis) that started within the last 3 days.
- Your pain level is more than 5 on a 0–10 scale (or a similar pain score).
- You have not had 9 or more hospital admissions in the past year.
- You are not taking certain medications like steroids, nitrates, or erectile dysfunction drugs.
- Your kidneys are working normally, and you do not have other serious sickle cell complications.
