Breathing exercises versus neck muscle training for neck pain

This study compares two types of exercises—breathing exercises and deep neck muscle training—to see which works better for people with long-term neck pain. You'll do one type of exercise program to help relieve your pain and improve function.

Who can take part

  • Neck pain that has lasted longer than 3 months
  • Age 18 to 35 years old
  • Never smoked and don't drink alcohol
  • No history of neck injury, fracture, or spine surgery
  • No inflammatory conditions, disc problems, nerve damage, or arthritis
  • Not pregnant, and not currently taking muscle relaxant medications
