Aloe vera and peppermint gel to prevent pressure sores in ICU

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and admitted to an ICU
  • You don't have any pressure sores when first admitted to the ICU
  • You are unconscious, sedated, or on a breathing machine
  • Your risk of developing pressure sores is moderate to high (based on a Braden score below 13–14)
  • You don't have diarrhea, very low blood protein (albumin), or swelling; your body position can be changed regularly
  • Your family consents to your participation and stays willing throughout the study
