Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with oral (mouth) cancer that is confirmed by biopsy
- You are between 18 and 80 years old
- You are healthy enough to tolerate radiation therapy (Karnofsky score of 70 or higher, meaning you can do most daily activities)
- You are scheduled to receive intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), a precise type of radiation, with or without chemotherapy
- Your blood counts and organ function (kidneys, liver) are adequate for treatment
- You have not received prior radiation to your head and neck
