Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 45 years old
- You are pregnant with one baby (not twins or multiples)
- You have a planned (elective) cesarean section scheduled
- You plan to use spinal anesthesia for your surgery
- You are in generally good health (ASA physical status II—meaning one mild health condition or normal pregnancy)
- You do not have high blood pressure during pregnancy, heart disease, kidney disease, or blood cell disorders
