Who can take part
- You are between 12 and 75 years old.
- You have sudden hearing loss in one ear only (not both).
- Hearing loss is severe (average hearing threshold of 80 dB or more in certain frequencies).
- Hearing loss started at least 7 days ago and you've already tried standard treatment.
- You have no other known cause for the hearing loss, no recent ear surgery, and no serious medical conditions like stroke, heart attack, epilepsy, kidney or liver disease.
- You have not had sudden hearing loss in the past 2 years, and you haven't used ototoxic medications (like certain chemotherapies, water pills, or high-dose aspirin) in the past 6 months.
