Who can take part
- Have type 2 diabetes (not type 1) diagnosed between 3 months and 5 years ago
- Blood sugar control level (HbA1c) between 6.5% and 10% at screening
- Currently taking metformin at full dose for 3+ months, OR managing diabetes with diet and exercise alone for 3+ months
- Have not taken other diabetes pills or injectable drugs (like insulin or GLP-1 drugs) in the past 3 months
- Blood pressure no higher than 150/100 mmHg at screening
- Heart rhythm (QT interval on ECG) within normal limits and no recent heart arrhythmia requiring treatment
