Comparing PRP, Steroid, and Combined Injections for Neck and Shoulder Pain

Myofascial Pain Dysfunction SyndromeTrigger Points, MyofascialTrigger Point in Trapezius Muscle

Treatments studied

Part of Bones, joints & muscles, Brain & nervous system clinical trials.

This study tests three different injection treatments for upper trapezius myofascial pain (a specific type of muscle knot in your neck/shoulder area). Researchers will compare platelet-rich plasma (PRP, made from your own blood), a steroid injection, and a combination of both to see which works best for pain relief.

Study of neck and shoulder pain with special MRI

This study uses special MRI scans to look at muscles and nerves in people with long-term neck or shoulder pain caused by trigger points (tender spots in muscles). The goal is to understand what happens in the body with this type of pain—so doctors can find better ways to treat it.
