Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You are scheduled for elective (planned, non-emergency) surgery on your lower leg or foot, below the knee
- Your body mass index (BMI, a measure of height-to-weight ratio) is between 18 and 35 kg/m²
- You have no known allergies to numbing medications like lidocaine or bupivacaine
- You do not have severe heart, liver, or kidney disease
- You are not currently pregnant and do not regularly take strong pain medications (opioids) at home
