Who can take part

  • You are of Han Chinese ethnicity.
  • You have pre-diabetes (fasting blood sugar between 5.6 and 7.0 mmol/L, or blood sugar 2 hours after a meal between 7.8 and 11.1 mmol/L, or HbA1c between 5.7% and 6.5%).
  • You have not taken any diabetes medication.
  • You are willing to exercise as part of the study.
  • You have not had major weight changes or surgery in the past year.
  • You do not have serious health conditions that make exercise unsafe.
