Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You are receiving oxygen support through a mask or breathing tube
  • You can have clear ultrasound images taken of your diaphragm
  • You do not have a phrenic nerve injury or paralysis (nerves controlling the diaphragm)
  • You do not have neuromuscular diseases like ALS or myasthenia gravis
  • You are not pregnant
