Who can take part

  • You are between 50 and 80 years old
  • You are having your first total knee replacement for osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear arthritis) on one knee only
  • Your knee pain is severe (at least 30 out of 100 on a pain scale)
  • You have no previous major surgery or serious injury to the same knee
  • You can read, understand, and sign a consent form
  • You do not have a pacemaker, bleeding disorder, or epilepsy
