Who can take part

  • You were at least 18 years old when diagnosed with C. difficile infection between February 2016 and December 2024
  • Your C. difficile infection was confirmed by lab testing (not just clinical suspicion)
  • You received treatment for C. difficile at Umeå University Hospital
  • You meet the official ESCMID definition of a C. difficile case (standard medical criteria)
  • You did not have another gut infection (virus or bacteria) that better explains your symptoms at the time
  • You are willing to participate and provide follow-up information
