ALS Study: Testing a New Drug in Spinal Fluid

This is a follow-up study for people with ALS (a disease affecting nerve and muscle control) who completed a previous trial called OWAA. Researchers want to test how a new experimental drug called LY4256984 affects the spinal fluid around your brain and spine, which may help them understand if it could slow disease progression.

Who can take part

  • You must have finished the entire main treatment phase and any off-treatment period of the parent OWAA study
  • You cannot have a history of significant back pain, back disease, spinal surgery, or spine deformity that could complicate a spinal tap
  • You cannot be allergic to local anesthetics like lidocaine (numbing medicine used during spinal tap)
  • You must not have a current infection where the spinal tap needle would go
  • Your blood platelet count must be at least 100,000 per cubic millimeter, and you cannot have bleeding disorders or take blood-thinning medications (except low-dose aspirin is allowed)
