Who can take part

  • Diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (a specific type of esophageal cancer) confirmed by biopsy
  • Able to have surgery and meet basic health standards (ECOG score 0–2, meaning you can perform daily activities with minimal limitation)
  • Plan to receive neoadjuvant PD-1 immunotherapy (immune treatment given before surgery)
  • No active autoimmune disease or history of certain autoimmune conditions
  • No uncontrolled heart disease or active serious infections (HIV, hepatitis B or C, tuberculosis)
  • No severe allergies to immunotherapy medications or protein-based treatments
