  • You do not have diabetes
  • You have not taken antibiotics in the past 3 months
  • You are not currently taking anti-inflammatory pain relievers like ibuprofen or naproxen regularly
  • You do not have inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
  • You are not allergic to or unable to tolerate beans, lentils, or peas
  • You eat fewer than 25 grams of pulses daily in your normal diet
