Who can take part
- You are of African or Indian descent (self-identified)
- You were diagnosed with diabetes between ages 18 and 47
- You were initially labeled as Type 2 diabetic but have unusual features (like sudden weight loss, kidney or heart problems early on, or poor response to diabetes pills)
- Blood tests show you do NOT have Type 1 diabetes antibodies (specific proteins that would indicate Type 1)
- You do not have other autoimmune diseases or secondary causes of diabetes (like pancreas or hormone problems)
- You are not currently pregnant and are willing to give informed consent
