Who can take part

  • You have a traumatic spinal cord injury in your neck or upper back (not from a gunshot, stab wound, or disease)
  • You are between 18 and 60 years old
  • You are healthy enough to safely receive general anesthesia (surgery under full sedation)
  • You do not have nerve damage problems, active infections, or cancer
  • You can understand and follow instructions during physical exams and recovery
  • You have not had previous spinal surgery or spinal cord injury
