You would receive the herbal medicine by mouth along with your regular antibiotics.

- Age 18–85 years
- Hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia confirmed by chest X-ray and fever or cough with abnormal blood work
- Started on antibiotics less than 24 hours ago
- Able to swallow and take oral medication
- Not in intensive care and not needing dialysis
- No recent hospitalization, HIV infection, cancer, or serious lung/heart/kidney disease
