  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You are being treated in an emergency department
  • You have a suspected or confirmed infection that requires antibiotic treatment started within 24 hours of arriving at the ED
  • A routine blood sample (EDTA tube) can be collected from you as part of your normal care
  • You are willing to participate and have not objected to the study
