Dupilumab plus standard care for severe COPD flare-ups

This study tests whether adding dupilumab (a biologic medication that reduces inflammation) to standard treatment after a severe COPD flare-up requiring hospitalization helps prevent future flare-ups and improves breathing. You may qualify if you were recently hospitalized for COPD with elevated immune markers and have not received certain similar biologic medications recently.

Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lung condition)
  • You were hospitalized or in the emergency department for more than 24 hours due to a COPD flare-up and treated with steroid medications
  • Your blood showed elevated eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) during the current flare-up
  • You do not have pneumonia or other complicating lung conditions in the past 8 weeks
  • You have not received other biologic medications for inflammation within the last 6 months
  • You were not on a breathing machine (mechanical ventilation) during your hospital stay
