Who can take part
- Cardiac arrest that happened outside a hospital and was not caused by trauma or injury
- Age between 18 and 70 years old
- If your heart stopped despite CPR: the initial heart rhythm must be one of three specific types (VF, pVT, or PEA), and someone was doing CPR when EMS arrived
- If your heart restarted: it must have restarted after CPR for an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
- No terminal illness, active do-not-resuscitate order, or severe pre-existing brain damage
- No severe blood vessel disease in the legs, blood clotting disorders, severe obesity, or suspected pregnancy
