Who can take part
- Your mitral valve leaks (moderate or worse) due to a weakened heart, confirmed by heart imaging tests done within the last 60–90 days
- You have heart failure symptoms (shortness of breath, fatigue, or swelling) that limit your daily activities
- Your heart pumps at least 30% of blood with each beat (measured within 90 days)
- You are 18 years or older
- Your heart chamber is not severely enlarged (specific measurement on ultrasound within 90 days)
- You do not have plans for other heart surgery in the next year
