Who can take part

  • You have a blood or bone marrow disease (cancer or non-cancer) and received a stem cell transplant from a family member or unrelated donor
  • You developed acute GVHD (graft-versus-host disease—your new immune system attacking your gut) that affects the intestines and hasn't improved despite high-dose steroids for at least 7 days
  • Your intestinal GVHD is grade II or higher in severity
  • You don't have active bacterial infections requiring ongoing antibiotics right now
  • You don't have HIV, hepatitis C, or active hepatitis B infection
  • You don't have severe mouth sores (mucositis) or a history of inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
