Who can take part

  • Age 18–80 years old
  • Platelet count between 10 and 49 (measured in billions per liter) at the start of the study
  • Previously responded well to corticosteroids or IVIg (intravenous immunoglobulin)—a past blood treatment—as confirmed by a blood specialist
  • If taking corticosteroids, stable on 10 mg prednisone daily or less for the past 3 months, with no dose changes allowed during the study
  • If female and able to become pregnant, must use contraception; cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • No serious allergic or bad reactions to prior IVIg treatment
