- Scheduled for elective (planned, non-emergency) hip replacement surgery on one hip
- Age 18–75 years old
- Overall health status allows for regional anesthesia (numbing injections)
- No active infection or bleeding disorder
- No severe obesity (BMI ≤ 40 kg/m²)
- No serious heart, liver, lung, or kidney disease
