Who can take part

  • You are able to agree to join the study
  • You are age 50 to 80
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or lower
  • You are having an elective (planned) total hip replacement under general anesthesia
  • Your overall health status is in the range ASA I to III (not extremely ill)
  • You do not have certain exclusions like medication/skin issues at the injection site
