Who can take part
- You have a maxillary (upper) molar tooth with significant damage to one specific root (the mesio-buccal root)
- The damage is one of these: severe bone loss, deep gum pocket affecting the root, root fracture, extensive decay, failed root canal, or root resorption (wearing away)
- You do not have uncontrolled diabetes, immune system disorders, or recent cancer treatment to the head and neck
- You have good oral hygiene habits and can commit to regular dental care and maintenance
- You are not a heavy smoker and can follow post-treatment instructions
- You have adequate jawbone, or it can be built up to support either a root amputation or implant
