Who can take part

  • You are experiencing signs of severe low blood pressure or shock (feeling faint, weak pulse, cold skin)
  • You have blood pressure monitoring available (either a simple cuff or an IV line with a monitor)
  • Your doctor can feel your pulse in your wrist, neck, or other areas without stopping emergency treatment
  • You do not have conditions that make it hard to feel your pulse reliably (like severe vascular disease)
  • You have not had major limb amputation that would prevent checking pulse at standard locations
  • Study procedures will not delay or interfere with life-saving emergency treatment you need
